“Exactly what is an Unsettled Heart?
Ask yourself this; are you truly happy?
If your answer is no? You have an unsettled heart. Maybe you’re unsettled by debt. Maybe it is clutter or a career that you no longer love. Whatever your reasons, your heart is unsettled.
I am Stacy, 1/3 of the Unsettled Family. I am a 34 year old wife, mother, small business owner, author and homeschooler. I am also unsettled. About a year ago, I woke up one morning to realize exactly how overwhelmed and stressed out I felt, how hard I had spent my adult years working simply to have a house full of “stuff” that I no longer loved; how much I longed for the simple side of life that I knew existed but had no idea how to attain. Deep down inside of me there was something calling and it has taken me a year to decide to answer that call.
What call, you ask? It was the desire to be free. To roam. To travel and to learn.
It took us a year to make the decisions that we’ve made. There were many, many long conversations, a few tears, some laughter and wishes and at times, a tiny bit of yelling too. We are a family that very much fights against the norm, but in this case, we seemed to want to cling to it. Here we are though, a year later, with the decisions and plans made. We’re planning the journey of a lifetime and my soul? Restless but soothed by the fact that soon, I will no longer be unsettled.
They are the other 2/3 of the Unsettled Family. She’s now 11 and he’s 33. She is a little mini-me and feels the same call to roam that her Momma does. Him? Not so much, but he’s willing to go along for the ride. She loves thrill rides and reading. She’s an amazing artist and can cook better than most adults that I know. She loves to sing bad karaoke with me and she is at her core, Momma’s girl. He’s a veteran, a bit tactless and a lot jerk. He’s off putting unless you know him but he’d give you the shirt off of his back if you needed. He’s goofy sometimes and really hates to drive long distances.
Together, the three of us make up the Unsettled Family of Unsettled Hearts. You’ll get to know us a bit better as you follow our journey, but in the mean-time, you can find me over on my main blog, Six Dollar Family, or blogging with my good friend over at Resale Mommas. I’d love to have you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram too so that you can stay in touch!
